Established in 2018.
The LLS Junior Board - RI is the first LLS Junior Board in the nation, and we are looking to make an impact. We are a group of college and high schools students who's lives have all been impacted by cancer in someway, and our goal is for no one to have to say those same words ever again. Rhode Island may be small, but our passion for curing blood cancers is big.
ADVOCACY.
Our voices give us great power, and we use ours for good. We advocate for patients and their families: for new research, improved quality of life, and more affordable treatment. We advocate for a world without cancer. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT.
Given our healthy bodies, we take action for those who may not be able to themselves. Through service, we are privileged to spread awareness, enhance education, and raise funds for blood cancers and those who's lives have been affected by them. |
LEADERSHIP.
We are the future. As emerging young adults in our world, it is our responsibility to make positive, lasting change in it. Through leadership development and peer collaboration, both fueled by a whole lot of passion, the end to cancer begins with us. CURES.
It's what we all want, and every day we come closer and closer to it. Although cancer may be tough, so are we. We are RELENTLESS. |
After six days of scans, blood work, and meeting what felt like every doctor in the hospital, I was diagnosed as having large B- cell, medialstinal, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, stage 2 cancer. This was the most terrifying news I had ever heard, and thought I would be living my last days in the hospital... Next week I will be two years in remission!
